Australian Women's organisations banner exhibition
WOMEN ACROSS AUSTRALIA WOMEN'S ORGANISATIONS' BANNER EXHIBIT!
The group of non-government organisations (NGOs) that has been involved in preparing for the Beijing +5 review,is organising an exhibit of banners from women's organisations around the country, focusing on the theme of women's human rights and what it means to Australian women.
This exhibit is particularly important for those organisations that would like to participate in the Beijing +5 process but will be unable to attend the Special Session of the General Assembly in June. Although the number of participants that may attend the Special Session finalising the Beijing +5 Review has been limited, this display of banners from various women's organisations will symbolise the strength of Australian women and their commitment and energy to realising women's human rights.
This exhibit will hopefully be displayed in Canberra, as our nation's capital, and will be taken to New York for the Beijing +5 Review. The banners should be designed on light material, such as calico, and should not exceed one metre by 500 cm. Please note that we will need the banners by 19 May to be able to take them with us to New York.
It would be excellent if we could take with us banners from rural and regional women's organisations and service centres, as well as from city-based organisations, from organisations advocatiing for and working with indigenous, non-english speaking background and disabled women, to emphasise the diversity of Australian women.
If you would like to send a banner from your organisation on the theme of women's human rights, please contact Amrita Dasvarma, NGO Coordinator for Beijing +5, on tel 08 8227 2251 or Mob 0408 102 175 or email amritadasvarma@hotmail.com
