SLAVERY AND SEXUAL SERVITUDE
4 Jan. 99 Sexual Slavery - Model Criminal Code report released The Model Criminal Code Officers Committee has prepared a discussion paper proposing offences which prohibit slavery and "sexual servitude" - that is, conduct in the area of sexual exploitation which falls short of slavery. The Standing Committee of Attorneys-General asked the Committee to develop the discussion paper as a result of domestic and international law enforcement concerns that people are being brought into Australia to provide sexual services in circumstances where they are at the mercy of unscrupulous operators. Submissions on the discussion paper Offences Against Humanity: Slavery closed on 30 June 1998.
