National Youth Week is the annual celebration run by and for young people aged 12 -25 in Australia. At the National level, six youth representatives direct the shape and success of NYW. The Week is coordinated by the Youth Bureau of the Commonwealth Department of Family and Community Services(FaCS) with the Departments responsible for youth affairs in all States and Territories. This year's theme, BRING IT ON, is a call to action for young people to get involved in hundreds of live and online events taking place. Online events include chatrooms with celebrities, competitions, and giveaways. Highlights in rural, regional and remote Australia include:
NSW - Adults are the Delinquents Forum on 10 April in Glenn Innes.
ACT - Young People and Public Space Forum on 8 April. VIC - Youth Forum on 12 April in Melton.
NT - Listen Up Forum for people at risk of offending on 10 April in Darwin.
TAS - You are not alone, play from the North West Centre Against Sexual Assault on 8 April in Burnie.
SA - Grrrl's Lounge Performance on 10 April in Adelaide.
QLD - Live, Loud and Legal festival exploring juvenile crime on 13 April in Atherton.
