Women's Constitutional Convention 2002

A conference to celebrate 100 years of women having the vote and 40 years of indigenous people having the vote, and to promote women's continuing involvement in political reform and Constitutional change.
The themes for the conference are:
- What we have achieved through political action and what is at risk;
- Women's involvement in political reform and change (with a Constitutional element!)
- Time for Action.
The conference objective is to increase women's knowledge, skills and confidence in their individual and collective ability to influence public policy particularly related to the use and influence of the Constitution.
Papers should be related to the themes of the conference and might cover, for example:
- Constitutional reform & development
- the power & importance of the women's vote
- women's advocacy, individually & collectively
- successful women's & women's organisations, campaigns
- women as active citizens
- extending women's access to policy & political processes
- social & political reform
Papers on other topics related to the conferences themes are welcomed and encouraged.
Workshop proposals should be related to the themes of the conference and might cover, for example:
- the processes of change & reform
- how votes are counted & seats determined
- standing for elected office
- practical activism for running
- indigenous representative structures
- campaigns, as an insider, as an organisation.
- teaching our children
- skills for social development and change.
Workshops on other topics related to the conferences themes are welcomed and encouraged.
The closing date for submission of paper and workshop proposals is 30th April 2002. Papers should be succinct with a delivery time of less than 10 minutes and
workshops should not exceed 45 mins.
- Title, author and name of organisation should be clearly presented at the top of the page.
- The paper/outline/workshop should clearly describe the topic and content to be included in the presentation.
- Electronic submission of papers is appreciated and preferred.
- By submitting papers you are agreeing for the paper to be published by the WCC2002 on its website and in any collection of conference documents.
- Speakers will be expected to register for the conference and cover their own costs.
