NSW Women's Gathering 2002Date: 27 September 2002 through 29 September 2002
2002 is the Year of the Outback and Bourke is this year's venue for the NSW - Women's Gathering. Gatherings have taken place since 1993 in country centres and are a great opportunity to meet with other women, share views and ideas and enhance personal and community wellbeing. ~ Theme ~
This year's theme is "Fortitude and Far Horizons - Strength in face of adversity and the ability to see beyond the immediate future". The theme recognizes that throughout the bush, women have for many years been the glue that holds that society together - the quiet strength that 'keeps the show on the road'. The "far horizons" that can isolate these women are the only boundary that they have. Over the horizon can come unlimited opportunity or disaster; women have learned to watch for the signs; the promising storm cloud, the spiral of dust announcing the mail-truck or visitor and the frightening plumes of smoke that carry word of destruction and terror.
