The 2002 Human Rights Medal will be awarded to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to human rights in Australia. Previous medal winners include Faith Bandler, former Prime Minister Malcolm Fraser, the late Eddie Mabo, the Hon Elizabeth Evatt and Rev Dorothy McMahon. The award winner last year was the late Dr Arnold "Puggy" Hunter and Eileen Pittaway, whose work includes substantial contributions to the Australian National Committee for Refugee Women received a high commendation. - Human Rights Awards 2002 - This year six Human Rights Awards will be presented - in the categories of law, arts non-fiction, community, print media, television and radio. The Community Award was awarded last year to Women With Disabilities Australia. - Make a Nomination -
