Eighth Australian Institute of Family Studies Conference 2003

A conference on parenting, families and society.

Through its conferences, the Institute of Family Studies seeks to facilitate research presentation, debate and policy input on a range of diverse issues related to the family. This year, the three major themes of the conference will be: children and parenting; family and marriage; and families and society. A comprehensive list of topics will be covered, including the following:

 children and parenting
- analysis of childcare services and policy
- domestic violence and child protection
- child development in families

 family and marriage
- issues of gender status in marriage
- conflicts in families following separation and divorce
- youth future plans for marriage and families
- sharing parenting responsibilities

 families and society.
- capacity building in families and communities
- exploring issues of family poverty
- a model of an integrated family court system
- evaluation of family support services
- balancing work and family

The conference is being held from the 12th to the 14th of February, 2003 at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre, Southbank.
