Women and Gambling: the Private and the Public Picture

The Illawarra Women's Health Centre is hosting its second annual conference on women and gambling, entitled: 'Women and Gambling: the Private and the Public Picture'.

The conference will focus on developing a more comprehensive picture of the complexity of women's gambling experience. It acknowledges that gambling constitutes an intimate and personal experience for women, alongside the public nature of the activity, which is carried out in the public domain. Discussion will also focus on the socio-political and cultural contexts in which gambling occurs.

The conference aims at developing a perspective on women's gendered experience of gambling and facilitating a feminist and holistic approach to research, policy development, education, counselling and other service delivery in this area.

The conference will be held at the University of Wollongong Union Function Centre, Northfields Avenue, North Wollongong.
